Abstract

The United States has over 275 million registered vehicles which pollute the environment, deplete oil resources, and affect the world's climate. In order to minimize environmental damage,, the United States should consider using alternative fuels such as ethanol, algae, biodiesel, and natural gas. These fuels can be used on the same infrastructure already in place, have a similar price, and are much better for the environment when compared to gasoline or diesel fuel. Using alternative fuels will buy time for electric or hydrogen powered vehicles to enter the market as high-quality and affordable options.
